National Society of New England Women: Open to any woman who is eighteen years of age or older, who can prove descent from one or more ancestors born in New England prior to the signing of the Constitution of the United States in 1789 and/or born in Nassau or Suffolk counties, Long Island, New York prior to 1700. Membership is by invitation only; however, inquiries may be directed to the local Colony.

National Society Daughters of the American Colonists: Open to any woman who is a citizen of the United States of America, is of good moral character, and has attained her eighteenth year, shall be eligible to membership, provided that she shall be acceptable to the Society and shall be the lineal descendant of an ancestor who rendered civil or military service in any of the colonies prior to July 4, 1776. Legal adoption shall not qualify for lineal descent.  Furthermore, the ancestors' services must pertain to one of the thirteen original colonies which joined to form the United States of America.

National Society Sons of the American Colonists: Open to any American man, of eighteen years of age and of good moral character and reputation. He must provide proof of lineal descent (using standards generally accepted in the genealogical community) from an ancestor who rendered civil or military service in any of the Colonies in America before 4 July 1776, including service in any of the following capacities:

  • in a battle under colonial authority;
  • under the banner of Great Britain in North America in any of the wars in which the Colonists participated;
  • all Military and Naval service of the Colonies;
  • filled office of Governor, Lt. Governor or Deputy Governor;
  • member or delegate to Council or Assembly;
  • member of House of Burgesses;
  • Deputy or Representative to General Court;
  • Commissioner of the United Colonies; of Boundaries or Treaties; of Impost or Excuse; to the French or Indians;
  • Secretary, Magistrate, Selectman, Justice, Judge of any Court of Law, or Equity Attorney, Advocate or Solicitor;
  • Founder or Trustee of any College in North America founded prior to 1776;
  • Minister of the Gospel, or Commissary of the Bishops of London;
  • member of the Committee of Safety of the Continental Congress 1774-1775;
  • member of Council of Safety of 1689;
  • Signer of the Mayflower Compact;
  • Speaker of the House of Deputies;
  • physician or surgeon;
  • member of Provincial Congress;
  • Signer of the Declaration of Independence;
  • Huguenot refugee;
  • Signer of Oath of Allegiance to Great Britain;
  • member of the London, Plymouth and Virginia Companies who actually came to the colonies, and descendants of the members of these companies who resided in the Colonies;
  • Palatine settler;
  • descendants of Coventers from Scotland;
  • original land owner or proprietor, not inheritor;
  • Salzburgers of Georgia.

National Society Sons of Colonial New England: Open to any man of the age of eighteen years or more who can prove direct descent from a person who was born in one of the six New England colonies prior to July 4, 1776. The New England colonies are Massachusetts, Maine, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

The Winthrop Society: Descendants of the Great Migration: Open to all men and women of good character and proven lineal descent from one or more passengers of the Winthrop fleet, or of others who settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony and down east before 1634.

Order of Descendants of Pirates and Privateers: Open to men and women 21 years of age and over, who are lineally descended from any of the following, of the period 1609-1865:

  • Officers and Crew of Pirate Ships, of any Nation, so long as such Pirates were of, or engaged the American Colonies or Nation,
  • Officers and Crew of American Privateers, including those of the Confederacy,
  • Coastal Raiders,
  • Shore-based parties engaged in the diversion and scuttling of vessels,
  • Any person who engaged in the establishing, supporting, and/or maintaining any of the above. For instance, ship owners, investors, bonders, those issuing Letters of Marque, etc. The involvement must be direct -- those merely employed in ship-building do not necessarily qualify.

Hereditary Order of Families of Presidents and First Ladies of America: Open to any man or woman 18 years of age or older, who can prove a lineal or collateral relationship (using standards of proof generally accepted in the genealogical community) to one or more of our propositi. Qualifying propositi include the chief executives of the following Republics, and their spouses:

  • the United States of America under the U.S. Constitution
  • the Vermont Republic
  • the Republic of West Florida
  • the Republic of Texas
  • the California Republic
  • the Confederate States of America
  • the Republic of Hawaii

and also the presiding officers of the following historic representative bodies, and their spouses:

  • the Continental Congress of the United Colonies of America
  • the Continental Congress of the United States of America
  • the United States in Congress Assembled under the Articles of Confederation

Guild of Colonial Artisans and Tradesmen: Open to men and women 18 years of age or older who are of good moral character and who are lineally descended from an artisan or tradesman who lived in the American Colonies from the founding of Jamestowne, 13 May 1607, to the Treaty of Paris 03 September 1783. Artisans and tradesmen are defined as those who were accomplished in the field of art and those who crafted or traded items and/or were part of select Royal Guilds previously established in the Old World who continued their practices in the American Colonies. Farmers or those dealing in the raising or selling of livestock or poultry are not included.

Membership is by invitation only and shall be extended by the President General.
