The Order of First Families of Connecticut

Membership in OFFCT

As set down in Article III, Section 1 of the Order's by-laws, men and women, over the age of 18 years, who are lineal descendants of men or women who, between the years 1633 and 1662, resided anywhere within the bounds of the present-day state of Connecticut may be eligible for membership.  The fact that the land on which they lived was formerly claimed by another jurisdiction is immaterial.

Following is a chronological list of settlements that ultimely comprised the Colony of Connecticut, all of which were founded by 1662 when the Royal Charter was granted:

Please also download the instruction sheet (viewable in Adobe Reader) for completing the OFFCT application form; we ask that you please follow all instructions carefully so as to avoid any delays in processing your application.

The Order offers both Annual and Life Memberships. Members have the option of purchasing a hand-calligraphed cardstock certificate (link in PDF format) bearing the name of the member and his/her ancestor, the ancestor's settlement of residence, and date of arrival or earliest recorded appearance in that settlement's records.

OFFCT InsigniaMembers have the additional option of purchasing standard and miniature versions of our insignia by CityPride Ltd., a handsome medallion of the Order's emblem in full blazon, suspended from a silk ribbon. Please contact the Marshall General to place an order.
